today

Luckily my husband is back to work after being unemployed for 5 months,... but the day did not go as well for me my little one never soaks his diaper but of course the day I need to start getting up early he's soaks through and I have to wake him up at 4:30 and change him give him a bottle he goes right back to sleep, but I couldn't .

So I have been up since 4:30 after going to bed at 1:00!  Then we all get ready 9 yr old baby and i and a dog chases my son and won't go away so I have to toss something in the dogs direction to get him to leave, drop him off at school and get a call a few hours later asking me to come and get him from school cause he fell asleep during his reading class.. seriously . So I go get him and on the way back I see freaking hyperdermic needles in the gutter thing right where kids walk home! And I live in a nice neighborhood. I didn't know what to do ,so I just kicked them out of the sight of little eyes..

what a day what a day.

BTW it's a mile and a half each way to my kids school, so needless to say I am exhausted.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

I am so Thankful for my children those born of me and those born of others. I am thankful for my husband and they family we have created together. I am also more aware with each passing year that blood alone does not a family make , family are those people who are true and loyal to you whether bloodrelated or not, I am thankful for the people in my life who I call family. I am thankful to be alive another year to enjoy these wonderful people. I am also thankful for the wonderful bloggers that I have encountered and for the light they shine on my day.   May all these people be blessed in all they do!!!

I am thankful for faith hope and love, Have a Blessed day everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

Being a step-parent is hard work....

But it all seems worth it when your stepson tells you, you are the only good mother he knows =)

Puerco y chile verde ...YUM

Here's the recipe:

20 medium tomatillos, husks removed and rinsed
3-4 fresh serrano chiles,stems removed
2 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons safflower or canola oil
2 lbs pork butt or shoulder,including alittle fat,cut into 1/2 -1 1/2 inch cubes
sea salt
12-15 small red potatoes
1/3 cup coarsely chopped cilantro

Place tomatilloes ,chiles, and garlic in a medium sized saucepan. Cover with about 3 cups of water and bring to aboil over medium heat.Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until tomatillos are soft. Drain but reserve liquid
Place the tomatillos, garlic, and chiles in a blender or food processor and blend well with 1/4 cup of the tomatillo liquid.

Warm the oil in adutch over or heavy pan and brown meat over medium heat until golden and crispy. Pour the blended ingredients over the meat. Add salt to taste and 2 cups of the remaining tomatillo liquid. Cover and simmer about 30-45 minutes, until the pork is slightly tender.Add the potatoes, and continue to cook for another 20 minutes. 15 minutes before serving add the cilantro.

I changed afew things when we made this today we slowcooked the roast, then transfered to the dutch oven with the chile verde and I used fingerlings instead of the red potatoes it's good both ways.

Renters Beware

I have heard of so many cases where renters will be going about their lives paying their landlords only to find out that their house is in foreclosure and that the landlord has been pocketing the money all along. If you rent please for your own sake periodically check your house at http://www.rentalforeclosure.com/.

We very recently have found out that this has indeed happened to us, we have 90 days to find a new home for us and our children. Please don't let this happen to you!

My ergo is coming today, hopefully I'll be able to get a bit more done if I can strap Izzy to my back..LOL.
On a different note it really looks like relocation is inevitable, I'd really like to live somewhere that actually has some sense of community, but where?

My ergo!!!!!!

Things have been so awful this passed few months for us financially emotionally spritually but atleast for afew minutes I will put it aside and be excited that a few hours carrying around an almost 30 lbs toddler is worth it to earn this (plus a few bucks from mom)

Hoping to get in the swing of things

I will hopefully be posting more in this darn thing . I really enjoy writing but it's much more fun when you have something fun and or interesting to share. My 8 yr old and I will be doing some crafting here soon , so I should be posting pics of those things. My favorite holiday is coming up so we will be making some things for Halloween!!!

On another note my lovely 8 yr old who we call Quino has been excepted into the G.A.T.E. at school he is 3 rd grade and reading at the level a 6th grader would midyear , so needless to say we are quite proud.

Even though no one else is reading this yet it's a nice thing for me to look back on and enjoy!

cottonbabies

I attended and expo this weekend for new baby and kids products and I was very excited to see cotton babies and the new cottonbaby products they have anew setup similar to gdiapers that I was intrigued by, when I tryed to ask the woman running the booth about it she asked me if I was a buyer I responded no as I was an attendee she turned and walked away without a word needless to say I'm very disappointed in this company and their choice of representatives.

Israel Michael Murphy Happy Birthday

Today is my son's 1st birthday, Israel was born at 6:31 in the morning at 42 wks and one day by at home VBAC . He has been walking since he was ten months says about 5 words and has 7 teeth now. But that's just statistics what is most important is who he is and what he has brought to our family especially me, he has healed my anger and disappointment over my c-section with his brother Joaquin and had renewed my faith in myself and my body. He is such a blessing to us all and I'm so grateful that I have been chosen to be the Mother of such awonderful child.
